Love Your Neighbor Poster
It is the custom of Chabad, and other chasidic groups, to recite the the following prayer before shachris in the morning:
"הריני מקבל עלי מצות ואהבת לרעך כמוך"
"I hereby accept upon myself the positive commandment to love your fellow as yourself”
Why accept upon oneself a mitzvah that dictates how we relate to other human beings before performing a mitzvah that is between us and Hashem, namely davening to Him? This question is really not a question at all. When we are able to see God in everything and everyone then really there is no separation between types of mitzvos - It's all 1! 1 is Hashem! This custom bridges the gap for us and reminds us to treat everyone we meet with patience and care and to look out for one another.
